MY ASY STORY

I was drawn to working for the Armed Services YMCA due to its incredible mission and the profound impact it has on military families. The organization's commitment to supporting those who serve our country and their loved ones resonated deeply with me. The passion exhibited by the staff at the Armed Services YMCA. I’ve worked with this team for nearly five years and I am continually impressed by the team's unwavering commitment and genuine care for the well-being of military families. Their enthusiasm, expertise, and empathy create an environment that fosters trust and support, both within the team and with the families we serve. Working with the Armed Services YMCA has provided me with ample opportunities for professional growth. Through taking on new projects and fundraising initiatives and adapting to the challenges of COVID-19, I have expanded my skill set, refined my abilities, and gained valuable experience. The collaborative and empowering environment within our team has nurtured my growth and inspired me to continually strive for excellence in serving our mission. Being a part of an organization that prioritizes the needs of military families and is dedicated to ensuring they have access to resources and support is an honor. The Armed Services YMCA enables me to contribute to a cause that is larger than myself and make a positive difference in the lives of those who sacrifice so much for our country. It's truly fulfilling to know that my work directly impacts military families, helping them thrive and overcome the unique challenges they face. My overall experience of working with the Armed Services YMCA has been wonderful. It has allowed me to contribute to a cause that is larger than myself, surrounded by a passionate and supportive team. I am proud to be a part of this organization and to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of military families. Working with the Armed Services YMCA has truly been a privilege.

Ms. Audrey, Director of Donor Relations

I decided to work for the Armed Services YMCA to be able to serve military families.  I appreciate the stability and helpfulness of some of the staff. I have been able to grow professionally because I have learned new tools to utilize that help me to do my job more effectively. I feel that I work tirelessly to help each and every family that is enrolled in our programs. I have been able to not only teach and nurture children but also get to work alongside the moms. I have been able to teach them tools to help them be successful in child rearing, be a sounding board for some, and assist with whatever needs they may have. My overall experience has been a great one. The Armed Services YMCA is a very unique program that allows us the opportunity to work with the families, and provide a community of togetherness and inclusion…especially since the majority of the families are away from their home state and away from their families.

Ms. Schicka, Preschool Teacher

I have worked with the Armed Services YMCA in the past and enjoyed working at Fisher CDC. I decided to rejoin the team and continue my journey. I enjoy being able to laugh and have fun while we get our work done. The positive energy makes work more enjoyable. Working alongside our community has helped me learn other aspects and perspectives of the entire team. Our mission is important to our community as we serve families with child development needs. Knowing we are helping our military families with their everyday needs is rewarding.

Ms. Chrissy, Training and Curriculum Specialist

The Armed Services YMCA at Camp Pendleton is one of the bases most amazing resources for military families. They offer low cost child care and free or low cost programs. The work that is done here is amazing and the workplace culture reflects that. There is never any hostility and you can tell everyone's heart is in to what they do. I love coming to work everyday and seeing that where I work makes a difference in peoples lives.

Ms. Lisi, Office Manager

I have always worked with kids and had heard great things about the Fisher Children's Center and their work environment. It was a perk that it was one base and the hours work perfect with my kids' schedule and our military lifestyle! It is a dynamic work culture! There are so many levels of expertise, knowledge, backgrounds, cultures, lifestyles, diversity, and personalities! Working at Fisher Children's Center is a whirlwind experience (in a good way)...it's busy, fast pace, fun, and lots learning and laughs! I truly enjoy what I do everyday. I love watching the children grow, learn, make connections, and cheer on their successes!!!

Ms. Kelly, Childcare Teacher

I have been working at the Armed Services YMCA for almost 20 years. I have been given many opportunities to grow and develop my professional skills. Moreover, I love the culture of this workplace since day one. It gives me a sense of purpose knowing that I am with a group of people who are here for a great cause and to make a difference in the lives of our military children and their families!
